Today, Microsoft has announced the Windows 8 Release Preview which is available for download at http://preview.windows.com, in 14 languages. The new Release Preview claims to offer a fast, seamless experience for touch, as well as keyboard and mouse. The Windows 8 Release Preview features improvements to the Mail, Photos and People apps, with increased personalization options for the Start Screen, multi-monitor support. It also offers new Family Safety features and enriched privacy and security controls, as well as new Bing applications - Travel, News and Sports.
The company has also unveiled their Windows Upgrade Offer program for consumers purchasing a new Windows PC in Singapore. The offer provides consumers who buy an eligible Windows 7 PC the option to purchase a downloadable upgrade to Windows 8 Pro at an estimated retail price ofjust S$17.99 (inclusive of GST). However, there are some requirements which customers have to adhere to.
Consumers who have bought a Windows 7 PC that is pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate, and includes a matching and valid OEM Certificate of Authenticity, will need to register from http://www.windowsupgradeoffer.comfrom 2 June. And when Windows 8 has been officially released, customers will receive an email from Microsoft which willcontain thepromo codes and purchase instructions. Note that the Upgrade Offer Program is only applicable for new Windows 7 PCs that have been purchasedduring the eligibility period of 2 June 2012- 31 January 2013. And the Windows 8 Pro download must be redeemed before end February 2013.
